The Mission Revival building is a city landmark and is among the city’s few remaining live theatres built after the 1906 earthquake. In 1986, the building, also known as Brown’s Opera House, underwent extensive renovation including a new roof, a new auditorium, disabled access upgrades at the restrooms, a new thrust stage, and acoustical improvements in the auditorium. The project received a loan from the Non-Profit Performing Arts Loan Program of the San Francisco Mayor’s Office of Housing and Economic Development. In 1998, the design for a seismic upgrade and disabled access improvement was completed.
